A treat for y'all.
To show my appreciate for everybody that's been buying both paid accounts and the permanent accounts recently, I've completed a new feature. All it took was 12 hours straight in this chair without going to bed! :-)

Now we can do fun things like this. [Note: used to be inlined, but changed to just a link]

Isn't that fun? Oh, I bet you all want to know how to do this, huh? I even wrote up instructions.

Enjoy!

I actually had forgot to reset some things and had to delete two people's submissions right as they came in.

You can go vote again.

Actually, you can vote as much as you like--- your new votes just replace your old one.

Problem: it b0rked on me when I tried to do it from a username subdomain, i.e. casey.livejournal.com. To explain a bit further, I was viewing it from my friends page at casey.livejournal.com/friends/. Can this be fixed?

That's fucking beautiful, man.

And the little bars, look so Aqua-ish, in a good way. (So don't go changing 'em. :)

They could handle being in a blue to match the site. Or maybe that orange... yeah, orange is the best.

Would Bradfitz like that?

I would. I could do it.. ? Please?

Now, a big question: Darlene here teaches ASP pages at college. Just wondering if you could give us some technical insite as to the methodology of how you did that. Just curious. Thanks.

Ummm...I made a poll - then I tested it out...now whenever I look at my friends page all I see are the results...not the actual test... :-(

Re:

Because you used it. Filling it back out is pointless now... you're likely more interested in the results. (that's my logic, anyway)

If you want to fill it out again to make changes, click the link to get to the poll page, then click "Enter Form" or whatever

Not to be a pain in the ass... but the select boxes don't work on talkread.bml...

Probably an issue if people try to link to others entries to get to the polls...

Just a beautification comment... Can the answer bars be transparent so they aren't surrounded by white on a black background (or another color for that matter)?

Thanks for this awesome feature. Great idea!

g'aiee. Those bars look horrible on a black background. couldn't you have the image be a plain red box or something? ;P

alas, GIFs and PNGs lack 8-bit transparency, if I remember correctly.

a nuance change about how it works...

when you click submit poll, it should submit the poll and then reload your currently viewed webpage with the results.

so, if i click on submit from my friends page, it should reload friends. same if i click from ?skip=25 etc etc.

just a thought.

That's good. When I didn't vote, it showed the voting stuff in your posting.

But when I voted and then returned to this page, I see the result and not the voting stuff. Nice one.

I guess the voting stuff is the "secret" project you've been working on, eh? :)

Nice work!

Very very nice. I noticed something interesting... when I (logged in as myself) tried to "View Answers" for the questions in my own poll (when I was the only one who had actually submitted answers ;) ) I was told I... well, I'll show you:

[Error: you don't have access to view these poll results]

I made an "anyone can vote, friends can see the results" type of poll, #12 to be specific.

There's no way to edit a poll after it's been created, right ? I noticed that the contents of the poll had been replaced by something like in the entry.

Looks like the only way you can edit it is to delete the whole entry and redo the poll.

[info]tsutton

The more time I play with it, I got some suggestions...

1) How do I edit it after posting a new vote to my LJ?
2) How do I delete the vote from the server? Is it like deleting a normal LJ posting and it'll be removed from the server? (i.e. you won't be able to see it via ... /poll/?id=35 )

I'm willing to write up the voting FAQ if you provide me the full vote coding that will work (i.e. checkboxes, etc)

Good work, dude!
