Beta test the directory search!
I've opened up access to the directory search. Play with it awhile, try to break it. I'll be watching the server to make sure it behaves. If it doesn't I'll take it down and work on some more performance things which I was too lazy to do for now. I know a bunch of ways to make it faster, but for now let's see if it's fast enough.

Feedback would be appreciated. (especially with idea for more interesting search filter criteria)

since you basically know all of the livejournal clients, and a list isn't really "handy" when someone is searching..plus, it's pretty hard to rememebr the names and versions, etc.

perhaps you should make that just a popup list.. and if there are that many non-"registered" livejournal clients, ahve a little entry box off to the side.

also, when viewing entries with pictures.. up to and possibly 100 people's livejournal pictures takes a while to download/display...

besides, it is pretty much standard for searches to have variable amounts of results per page.

please make there a way to control how many results/page? 100 is a bit much..

Works great! I always did think the old listing was kinda hokey and slow. Fantastic improvement. How did you like the Sleepy Hollow DVD?!

OK. I can specify gender, but it doesn't show on my info page. I can't flag it to BE displayed. I can search on it, and find those who specified the one I want to find. As you say, most people can tell by reading journals. I can put it AGAIN in my bio. I suggest a flag, default to yes, to display it on the info page.
