LJ and SUP

One of the things that makes LJ great is that we're an international community. We've got users from all over the world; after users from the United States, Russian users are the second-biggest fraction of our userbase. Today, we're happy to announce that we're partnering up with SUP, a new Russian Internet company, in order to improve the LiveJournal service for Russian speakers worldwide.

LiveJournal is the most popular blogging site in Russia, and we want to provide Russian speakers with the best service possible. SUP plans to dedicate a lot of resources to making the overall experience that Russian users have with LJ better: improving the speed of the site, the Russian translation, various features, and the support system. LJ Russia will continue to be integrated into the rest of LiveJournal, so that Russian and non-Russian users can continue to interact just like before.

	I think internationally, citizens of the USA are referred to as American whereas citizens of Canada are referred to as Canadian.
