Purging, Header design contest, Free vgift for Paid users

It's that glorious time of year when we gather around the hearth with loved ones and eat until we pass out in front of the television crackling fire. Before we OD on string bean casserole, we hope you'll take a few moments to vote for your favorite January header. For his final request of 2010, Frank is hoping you'll help him out with a poem he's been composing for his dearest Meme: "Twas two nights before Christmas and flush with romance, Frank had stuffed a red stocking with grass and fresh pants." Write up the next two lines, and Frank'll send you a Snowman cookie to sugar you up for the holidays (up through the first 10 pages of comments).


Update on Purging

We've successfully purged around two million deleted and suspended accounts. So if you've been itching to start the new year with a new username, now's the time. In response to your questions, we'll be sure to provide plenty of notice and detailed guidelines before we begin purging inactive accounts. For information on renaming an account, check out this FAQ.

Header design contest


Once again, we were blown away by your fantastic header entries. After hours of soul-aching deliberation, the LiveJournal staff selected 15 finalists for your voting pleasure. Please take a moment and let us know which design you'd like to see on the top of LiveJournal in January! FYI: All entries that came in after the deadline will be automatically entered into the next contest. We thank you all, again, for making LiveJournal your canvas!

Santa Paws is coming to town!

If you have a paid or permanent account, you can send five free Santa Bears now until Monday, December 27th, at 4pm, PDT! You'll see both the free and the $0.99 teddies displayed until they've been snuggled up by your friends. If you're not receiving vgifts (from friends and/or Frank), you may have disabled them. To enable vgifts, visit Edit profile (under Profile), scroll down to the bottom of the page, and check your settings. Happy holiday!
